Anteroverted

The head is small and placed upon a short, distinct neck, and is thus less sessile than in Proterotherium, more antroverted and with the pit for the round ligament less extended proximally, but of similar ovoid shape, with the long axis directed anteroposteriorly.

If the uterus is sharply antroverted or retroverted, it is often difficult to determine whether the os is open or closed as the axis of the cervix and the endometrial cavity lie in different planes.

The operator maintains a view on the image screen as the transducer is advanced along the anterior vaginal wall, with the goal of final placement in the anterior fornix for the 90% of patients with an anteroverted uterus.
