Bloodwater

Ender stepped under the water and rinsed himself, took the sweat of combat and let it run down the drain. All gone, except they recycled it and we'll be drinking Bonzo’s bloodwater in the morning.

Beyond the terrace the twinkling city lights faded, dark stars, and blood seeped from brick and glass, streamed along concrete and steel until the streets grew soaked with scarlet. Then a torrent of rushing bloodwater engulfed the city's humanity, whisking them to their doom.

And the river flowed through them, soaking them red, inundating and running through them as they piled up, clacking in the babbling stream—and I could see the gray streak of Jimmy's ashes in the bloodwater, and I followed it.

"Living worms in the bloodwater suggests it was not treated," [Alexandra] Morton said of the fish waste. "And this is going into the largest wild salmon migration route."
