More than 100 fatalities were recorded among these pioneer radiationists. One of the earliest and now best known incidents of Industrial radiation injury is that of the radium dial painters. During and immediately after World War I, a number of women worked in a war plant painting luminous watch and instrument dials. I am not subscribing here to the theory of Richet or to that of the radiationists who believe that the perception is due to radiations given off from an object or a drawing. It is my firm conviction that in the personality of the percipient we shall find what will prove most valuable for the understanding of paranormal manifestations.
